I recently visited New York…more for pleasure than for work this time around, but still made a little time for meeting up with some vintage vendors. Anywhooo, WayWay Allen of bluechickadee and I went up to spend some time with Jane Pope Cooper of Jane Pope Jewelry, her hubby and new baby boy, Wade! We had a great couple of days…here’s a little from our trip!
While we were there we hit the many sample sales…Wade in tow! It was so windy and he didn’t even make a peep. He is a city baby…he loved having his mom stroll him around and hearing all of the city sounds!
First stop, was John Robshaw – it was packed! We waited in line for about 30 minutes, but once we got in and rifled through all of the merchandise we were able to find some great textiles! I snagged up a tablecloth and a great robe . I could have spent a fortune in there and some people did, buying whole new bed sets. It was a mad house!
The sample sale I was most excited about stopping in was Lauren Moffatt. There we found a quiet, sunny environment. The crowd was less pushy and with the sample sale being held in her studio, it made for a little adventure to find. Only the die hards found their way…we were some of them! She is one of my all time favorite designers. Check it out!
And, now on to the eating part!
We had great meals, I’m always amazed by how many good restaurants are in New York! Ever visit there are new places and each time it’s as good, if not better than the last! We visited Bar Boulud, where I indulged in a rich pasta dish and also Corsino, where we sampled crostinis of all kinds! One of our lunch spots was a highlight as well. Westville is a cute, neighborhood restaurant (we went to the one in Chelsea) where they serve delicious vegetables among other amazing plates. The corn on the cob was ridiculous, it wasn’t just your plain old corn on the cob, it was seasoned with lime juice, cumin and cotija cheese…I’ll have another one, please!
I’m never ready to leave New York, but it was time to get home and get back to work! Here’s some of the loot I brought back…it’s up on the website and ready for you to shop!
